Family Orientation and Counseling

At AACC, we recognize the profound emotional and psychological impact of a childhood cancer diagnosis on families. Our Family Orientation and Counseling program is designed to guide families through every step of the journey, from diagnosis to recovery.

We provide:

  • Comprehensive Orientation: Helping families understand the diagnosis, treatment options, and care processes to empower informed decision-making.
  • Emotional Support: Offering counseling services to address fears, anxieties, and emotional challenges faced by both parents and children.
  • Resource Guidance: Connecting families with available resources, including financial aid, nutritional support, and housing assistance when needed.
  • Coping Strategies: Equipping families with tools to navigate the stress of caregiving while maintaining resilience and hope.

Through these efforts, we ensure that no family feels alone, fostering a supportive environment where they can focus on helping their child recover and thrive.

Community Engagement

Our approach begins at the grassroots level, engaging with the community through sensitization initiatives and workshops. We firmly believe that educating the population about early diagnosis and available treatment centers is pivotal to improving the survival outcomes for children with cancer.

Data Driven

We are guided by evidence-based practices, leveraging our research data alongside findings from renowned studies. By shaping our policies through these insights, we develop the most effective strategies to achieve our mission.

Focus Support

We are dedicated to supporting patients, their families, healthcare workers, and entire communities to ensure that every child with cancer receives the care they need to recover and thrive. By working collaboratively with all stakeholders, we strive to create a future where no child is left behind in their journey to health and well-being.

Our story

Why we do this.

Why Do We Do This?

Childhood cancer remains a devastating reality for many families in Cameroon, where limited access to timely diagnosis and treatment significantly impacts survival rates. At Action Against Childhood Cancers Association (AACC), we recognize that every child deserves a chance to live a healthy, productive life, free from the burden of cancer.

Our work is driven by the urgent need to bridge the gap in childhood cancer care by improving access to treatment, raising awareness, and offering psychosocial support to families. We understand that early diagnosis and innovative treatment solutions are not just critical—they are lifesaving. By fostering collaborative partnerships, conducting impactful research, and advocating for better healthcare policies, we aim to dismantle the barriers that stand in the way of effective care.

We do this because every child’s life is invaluable, and no family should face the journey of childhood cancer alone. Together, we can create a future where children not only survive cancer but thrive beyond it, embracing the opportunities of a brighter tomorrow.
